Austin Society of Karate (ASK) is a professional martial arts organization affiliated with the All-American Society of Karate. Beginning this semester, ASK is excited to offer American Karate classes at Austin Great Wall Chinese School. The program emphasizes physical conditioning, self-defense, discipline, confidence, and structured sparring, providing a supportive learning environment for students of all experience levels. Throughout the 14-week program, students will learn traditional and sport karate techniques, including kicks, punches, strikes, and kata (a formal sequence of movements that develops technique, breathing, and focus). Three classes will be dedicated to light-contact point sparring, allowing students to safely apply the skills they have learned in a supervised setting. The program fee includes 14 hours of instruction, tournament registration for both sparring and kata, one spectator ticket, and a belt test at the end of the session. A black karate uniform is required and can be purchased directly from the instructor. Additional required safety equipment, including a mouthpiece and protective gear, may be purchased from the instructor or from a sporting goods store.
