At Austin Great Wall Chinese School, Algebra 1 is designed as a strong follow-up to Singapore Math 5, making it an ideal entry point into middle and high school-level math. The course begins with a brief review of key Pre-Algebra concepts and progresses through a full study of quadratic equations in two variables.
This year-long course aligns closely with the Algebra 1 curriculum taught in most Austin ISD schools, including the advanced Algebra 1 class offered in the KMS magnet program. It serves as a foundational course for future studies in Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus.
Through structured instruction and a wide range of practice problems, students will build a solid understanding of core algebraic concepts. By the end of the course, students will not only feel confident in their school math classes, but also be well-prepared for advanced topics and potential participation in competitions such as the AMC.
